Overview of special tools for HPS systems repair
For those who have decided to repair power steering rack or have difficulties with repair, we would like to tell you about the special tools that are used by our specialists when repairing hydraulic steering racks. Both the result of repair and the time spent on it depend on the quality and convenience of special tools. In such a business as car repair, you simply cannot do without some types of specialised tools. Some of them are used daily in the process of disassembly/assembly of steering racks. The main purpose of special tools – is to preserve the integrity of the parts and, as a consequence, the performance of the repaired unit.
The most recognisable and sought after special tool – is the collet gland puller, which allows simple removal of the gland from the hydraulic cylinder. There are two versions of this collet puller. The shorter version allows you to work on the distributor housing.
The next speciality tool, no less in demand than the collet puller, – is the oil seal installation kit. The set includes: two pressing rods, long and short, and tips for precise positioning of the gland in the hydraulic cylinder.
Teflon ring crimpers are the next most in demand. Due to the tapered inner surface, they allow the Teflon rings to be properly seated on the steering rack distributor. There are three sizes of this tool for the most common steering racks.
The tools for replacing the steering rack oil seal and rod piston require special attention. There are six pieces in total, and they are used in pairs. Despite the fact that the design has some similarities, they have different purposes. Some are designed for fitting the packing, others are for fitting the circlips.
The Universal Wrench Set helps you unscrew joints or nuts that are different in shape and size to standard hexes. The wrenches are suitable for use with units fitted to a huge range of vehicles (around 200 models).
The measuring cones are used to determine the inner diameter of rubber rings. The tool is indispensable when measuring the seating area is not possible.
We keep a close eye on the automotive development process. We are constantly updating our range of both specialised tools and equipment for diagnostics of car components.
