DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT FOR STARTERS AND ALTERNATORS

The repair of the starters and the alternators is a popular service at the automotive market due to the several reasons:
- the repair is more financially attractive to a client, besides, the repaired units are as reliable as the new ones;
- the mentioned units fail quite often – in a view of the ambient atmosphere impact, the fair wear and tear, or the mistakes during a vehicle operation;
- the repair of the starters and the alternators is not complicated and doesn’t require many special tools, besides, the components are mostly always available.
The alternator of a modern car – rather complex unit integrated into the car board network by a digital bus, and controlled through the different protocols. For that reason, the diagnostics of the modern alternators requires the usage of the special equipment.
The design of a starter, in comparison to an alternator, remains mostly the same all the time, yet, the diagnostics of its electric elements (electric motor and solenoid valve) cannot be effected without the special devices.

The testers are used when the diagnostics of the unit is not possible at the test bench due to the mechanical damages of the unit. That’s why the unit is dismantled first to enable the diagnostics of its assemblies. It eliminates the multiple disassembling/assembling of the units to find the failed unit assemblies.
