New features of test bench MS005

The world of the automotive industry is constantly undergoing changes to improve the efficiency of the internal combustion engine and reduce emissions. All of these changes are leading to increased complexity in the design of vehicle components.

In keeping with tradition, we are constantly improving our equipment to keep it relevant for the long term. Our Generator and Starter Diagnostic Stand MS005 has received another set of improvements, which we'd like to tell you about next. 

New features of the upgraded MS005 stand:

1. The list of diagnosable units has been extended. It is now possible to diagnose 48 V belt starter generators controlled via CAN bus. Diagnostics of such generators is possible both in generator and starter mode. It is also now possible to connect a diagnostic scanner to a 48V starter-generator to provide full diagnostics of this complex unit.

2. Added automatic mode of starter diagnostics with the formation of a report, which can be printed on an external printer.

3. The automatic alternator diagnostic mode now has two test options:

•  «fast» to test generators by key criteria;
•  «advanced» – testing against a maximum number of criteria to obtain the current-speed characteristic of the generator.

At the end of any of the test variants a report is generated, which can also be printed on an external printer.

4. There is one more innovation in the automatic mode of alternator diagnostics. Now it is possible to change the algorithm of the autotest at your discretion. You can also change the content and appearance of the report with the generator diagnostics results.

How to access the new features of the MS005?

To expand the capabilities of your stand, you need to update its software. This can be done very simply:

• Connect the stand to the internet.
• When you switch it on, the stand itself will find the latest software version and update it. You only need to confirm your consent to update the software on the screen of the stand.

But the diagnostic function for 48 V belt starter generators will not be available for all, but only for stands manufactured after September 2023.
